This is what they will be eating along with chicken wings, stew, chips, soda, stuffed jalapeno peppers and other various items.

Rugby....

Plymouth State Rugby today. They lost today but put in a good effort. I don't really understand the game but it was fun to watch. Everyone enjoyed the cakes but who doesn't like cake?

Rugby time....

Finished the Rugby cake and field today. The ball will be placed center field on Saturday as it has to be transported about 60 miles. Should be enough cake for the Plymouth State College team. I'll post some post game pictures.

Start on the next cake project tomorrow which will be delivered on Sunday afternoon. Has to be done tomorrow because Saturday is filled up with Rugby.

Boston/Cape Cod

We took a day trip yesterday to "The Cape" to do some visiting of relatives that we haven't seen for awhile. Being Sunday the traffic was light but it still took us four hours to get to the cape. We had a little time before our afternoon meet so we took a drive to Woods Hole MA and visited a few beaches and the Nobska lighthouse. Our final destination was Falmouth MA my wife's family having lived there since the thirty's. We drove along the harbor and visited the Flying Bridge restaurant which was built owned and operated by my wife's grandfather and her father. It wasn't like the original building there were no more hand carved railings and all the other hand carved wood that had been done when the original building was built. we drove about a hundred yards down the harbor from the restaurant to look across the bay at the marine repair shop the my wife's father once owned. It is a beautiful harbor and the ferry runs from there to Martha's Vineyard. That's a trip for another day.
The pictures taken in Boston as we drove through are the "trademark" bridge of Boston, the John Hancock building which on the fourth of July is open (for a fee) to view the fireworks show which if you have the opportunity to do you should take the time to do it, it's defiantly worth it. The other picture is part of downtown and the harbor nearby.

There are two bridges you can cross from "the mainland" to the cape, the Bourne bridge, which is the one we used and the Sagamore bridge which is accessed from I495. It was a beautiful day in the seventies and like always it would have been nice to be able to spend more time there to take in more of the area sights.

New Projects...

coming up in the next two weeks.
1) A full sheet cake, in a football field design with a 3D rugby ball on top and maybe a few dozen cupcakes.
2) A full sheet cake with the ARMY logo on it and a few dozen cupcakes.

I need new cupcake pans because the "standard" size ones I have now just seem to small. Think I'd like the Jumbo Muffin tins. I can wish I guess. Limited income does that to people.

Anyways I'll post up the pictures when they get done. Made peanut butter fudge today, it was pretty easy and tastes good too.

While I'm wishing, can I wish for a fully stocked commercial kitchen to do my baking in?

San Diego, California....

Whats not to love about it? It's true we are just visitors here but I was a residence of this beautiful area in the past. San Diego has a great public transportation system, which we used almost exclusively and with a little help from the PTS staff we were able to get around everywhere we wanted to go with no issues. If you decide to use a lot of public transportation buy a five day pass, or whichever will suit you the best, it's worth the money and the experience.
There are really four reasons most people visit San Diego other than a nice vacation spot. Those would be the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, the Wild Animal Park in Escondido, and the beaches. I have been to them all before but for my new wife she had never been so it was a new experience for her. Needless to say she fell in love with the area. Being lovers of the ocean we also made a trip to Scripts Mirimar over looking La Jolla Beach, beautiful view from there. On our day trip to Mirimar we took in the Sea Lions on the rocks at La Jolla Cove and took the opportunity to rent a kayak and go kayaking at the beach near  by. It was a beautiful 72 degrees and a curious seal came up to see us or keep an eye on us as we kayaked out beyond the kelp beds.
Of all our excursions I think I liked this one the best, although we didn't get to see or go everywhere we wanted to it's still at the top of my "Best Places to Visit" list. Visit in the summer if your a beach person, although it can be very nice still in January and February. Visit Hotel Del Coronado it's a beautiful and historic hotel on Coronado. If you get hungry and love real Mexican food....Las Quatros Milpas hopefuly I spelled it correctly, be ready to wait in line they are popular with the locals but seriously worth the wait. They are on the San Diego side kinda under the Coronado Bay Bridge.

There is just so much to do here, or if you want to do nothing there is no better place. I cannot wait to return here it just seems like home.
