Today finally got to make some good things. Made Red, White and Blue strawberries and made a New York Cheesecake with white Ganache. Getting ready to dig into it!

Hopefully.......

today or tomorrow I'll be able to get to making "Red, White and Blue" strawberries. Should actually do them Monday for Memorial Day but I'm going to do Red White and Blue cupcakes for memorial day.
Today an am project, then a memorial service for a friend this afternoon and hopefully by this evening I'll get to do some baking. I  use baking as my Therapy it helps me de-stress and usually we get something appealing and tasty.
Pics up as soon as I possibly can.

Spa Cookies....

Part of the "Spa" themed desserts......Martini and Flip Flop sugar cookies. I do have tanning glasses and high heel cookie shapes available . I think I'll go with pink flip-flops and rose colored toe straps next time.

Petite Fours...

Doing some practice desserts for a local "Spa Day."  I have been asked to do some sweets for one-hundred people so A bit of baking research...lol.
Made Italian Cream (cake) Petite Fours for a trial run, while time consuming I'm totally pleased with the outcome.

Later today some "spa" themed cream cheese sugar cookies.

well today.........

I made a 24 Karrot, carrot cake. Also  managed to make a Samoa cake.....Samoa like the Girl Scout cookie. Unfortunately I just barely got it done in time to deliver it and didn't get a photo.

well it's not.....

perfect but it came out okay for a first try. I would not suggest buying the Wilton gear to make this cake, I believe the Nordic Wear version is crafted much better, The Wilton really needs to be redesigned so it doesn't "float" and allow the different color batters to run under the divider.

Well anyways, made the checker board cake and this is what it came out looking like. Like I said it is a first attempt and I will have to make some adjustments to the Wilton gear so it will work as it is intended to.

Got a good start today....

got a good start on baking today. Managed to get the three layer checkered cake baked, thirty-six cupcakes and a nine inch black forest cake. Two batches of icing and got twenty four cupcakes iced and decorated. Post up the other photos when I get the others done tomorrow sometime. Taking a day trip tomorrow.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was pleasantly surprised that the Andes Chocolate Mint cake was wildly popular. Everyone raved about it, which really gave me a nice sense of accomplishment. In fact three orders for them were sent to me. I have to thank my oldest brother for taking the orders and relaying them to me, much appreciated.
This week I have another cake order so I am thinking of doing a "Salted Caramel Latte" cake. Will also have to do one Andes Mint cake. While I'm baking (because I always go overboard) I'm going to make a Chocolate/Vanilla checkerboard cake, 3 layers. Never have done the checkerboard cake so it will be a fun experience. Yes I will post pictures.
Last Fridays cake order, three chocolate mint cakes. :) Just remembered this weekend is mothers day! May have to change things up a bit and do something extra special.

So today....

I decided I'd try to do a tri-colored frosting. Three colors in one shot. I must say it is a little more difficult to do than the normal one color. Well, considerably more difficult. Two colors shouldn't be any trouble and I'm going to continue working doing the tri-color. Today I wasn't so concerned with the consistency of the frosting as I was just trying the tri-color for the first time, nor was i concerned with the actual look of the piped frosting. Well for now I'm moderately satisfied with the outcome considering it was a first try. I learned a few things I need to change and those changes will be made next time I try this, possibly tomorrow.
