Foreigner and Styx at Medowbrook in Guilford NH....

What a great night for an excellent concert. Firstly I have to say thank you to the staff at the Medowbrook Pavillion  In Guilford NH for their outstanding service, everyone was so helpful and thoughtful. That's the way service should be everywhere!
It was a perfect Sunday evening weather wise considering all the rain and thunderstorms as of late. Don Felder from the Eagles started of the night and they played a lot of great music. Second on the venue was Foreigner and they put on an excellent show. The last time I saw them in concert was the late seventies early eighty's and they still kicked it. Last was Styx they also put on a great performance and had a spectacular lighting display. The only thing that could have made the night better is if I had a decent camera for photos.
While Medowbrook is a nice place I have to tell you, no room for a mosh pit. It was a good crowd though. A little different from the last time I saw them cause most of the crowd was in their fifties now. Last time we were in our twenties and a little more crazy. Anyways photo's........

Rubber Ducky Baby Shower Cupcakes

A friend of my wife's daughters baby shower was today so I just decided to throw something together real quick. I new the theme was "rubber ducky" so last night I mad some marshmallow fondant and the cupcakes. Got up this am and made the frosting, pudding for the filling and colored the fondant . Filling the cupcakes and doing the frosting, pretty easy and the ducks weren't that difficult (after a few tries)  Finished just in time to deliver them. About 3 hours work this am, coloring the MM fondant takes some time. Anyways.......photos

Starting to get exited about......

traveling again. Hopefully we will get started in August and our first destination is North Carolina. I'm exited because I'll actually have something to blog about besides baking. Why North Carolina? Neither me or my wife want to spend another bitter winter in the Northeast, having lived in the Northwest for three years before moving here we happily enjoyed  milder winters so we are headed to North Carolina for warmer climate, beaches and new adventures.
We are also getting our passports ready and planning a trip to Germany and other locations while we are there. A new camera is in order so our photos will be upgraded. So looking forward to getting started with new adventures. It will present some challenges as my wife had a stroke in Jan this year and in June fell and broke her shoulder so everything will take a little more planning for her to enjoy each adventure. For sure no parachuting or bungee jumping for her and we'll have to see about white water rafting but we will definitely  find something for her that she will enjoy, even if it's just sitting on the beach enjoying a bottle of wine and watching a beautiful sunset. Hey if your with the one you love that's pretty much all that matters.
Hope to be travel blogging soon.......

Boston Red Sox........Cake

Well as usual I got a late start on the Boston Red Sox cake, later than I wanted to get started.
It was my first time making and using Royal Icing and Modeling chocolate, both were very easy to make. I always try to do something new although it normally doesn't work that way. I drew out the sketches of all the lettering so I could use them as a guide. Laying parchment paper over the  prepared art work and then piping the Royal Icing onto the lettering. It was a little difficult because you have to use some sort of tool to push it around to get the proper shapes but all in all it was a good learning experience. The modeling chocolate I decided not to use and went with fondant for the base, baseball glove, bat and baseball and the pendant.
I made my miracle frosting or I should say secret recipe frosting in Cheesecake flavor. The cake itself, half vanilla half chocolate. The cake came out just the way they wanted it and it was enjoyed by everyone. As far as the pictorial on the making, no time so I just have the finished product pictures. As soon as I get the sugar storm in the kitchen cleaned up I will get started on "Beer Mug" cupcakes and toward the end of the month chocolate covered ice cream tacos.

Look for New Projects......coming up

This looks to be a busy month for cakes and such. also with mothers day coming up. Besides mothers day I have some new projects:
1) Boston Red Sox cake
2) Beer Mug Cupcakes
3) Ice Cream Tacos (covered in chocolate)
those are the three birthday projects so far plus the mothers day stuff. Not really that busy but enough to keep me occupied for a little bit.
Look for the full picture tutorial on them. Starting on the 10th of this month.

No traveling so far this year but trips to North Carolina, Maine and Germany are in the planning stages so we will be able to get back to "the travel blog"
